On Saturday, September 12, Downtown Duluth came alive as the community gathered to celebrate a milestone 150 years in the making at The Big 150: Off the Rails.
After months of anticipation, the celebration filled Downtown Duluth with live music, carnival games, food trucks, face painting, crafts, caricatures, giveaways, historical displays and plenty of opportunities to celebrate the people and stories that have shaped our city.
Music could be heard throughout downtown before the celebration moved to the Main Stage for performances by The Smithereens and Grand Funk Railroad. The evening also included The Big 150 Birthday Celebration, marking Duluth’s sesquicentennial alongside residents, visitors and members of the community.
More than an event, The Big 150: Off the Rails was an opportunity to reflect on 150 years of Duluth history while creating new memories for generations to come.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, participated in the celebration and helped make September 12 a day to remember. We’re grateful to have celebrated this historic milestone together.
Happy 150th, Duluth!
