The City of Duluth has amended its noise ordinance regarding certain residential tools and equipment.
The update applies to domestic power tools, lawn mowers, leaf blowers, chain saws and other agricultural equipment when operated with a muffler and within the ordinance’s sound limits.
Allowed hours are:
- Weekdays: 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
- Weekends & Federal holidays: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
This update is intended to provide clearer guidelines for residents while supporting safe and respectful neighborhood standards.
Will the noise ordinance update apply to city maintenance crews as well as everyone else. Wondering about their large mowers, string trimmers and leaf blowers.
Please amend this to have later hours on the weekend. When the temperature is in the 90s, it’s not safe for us seniors to mow in the heat of the day, and not practical to mow early when the lawn is still wet. Mowing M-F is challenging for those who still have a full-time job. We’re not going to mow when it’s dark, so mowing between 5-8pm shouldn’t disturb anyone who likes to turn in early.
