The 110-year-old Rogers Bridge was removed from its home over the Chattahoochee River yesterday afternoon to make way for a brand new pedestrian bridge!
The new bridge will be almost identical to the original and it will re-establish a usable connection between Duluth and the City of Johns Creek, Georgia – Government. Pieces from the original will be reimagined into a public art piece for display at Rogers Bridge Park.

My brother and I, with the guidance of Ed Malowney, visited the Rogers Bridge the first week of October 2021 just before it was removed. We are of course from the Thomas Cordery family lineage of which the Rogers families married into so it was a bit of a bittersweet visit for us but very historical in nature.
Hopefully the Rogers Bridge and its namesake will somehow be remembered after the new pedestrian bridge has been constructed. Just a massive amount of history in this area that should not be be forgotten. But I can’t wait to see the rejuvenation of the new bridge site and the area as a whole.
